PRESIDENT RODRIGO DUTERTE
Malacanang Palace Compound
J.P. Laurel Street , San Miguel
Manila
Philippines

Dear Mr. President ,

I am writing to you to express my concerns regarding random drug testing for students in schools.
It is not to oppose your directives and goal of identifying students with possible substance abuse and to intervene early. But my basic concern is the trauma of fear it would create on us students being suspected on using illegal drugs. The psychological distress and embarrassment due to unwanted invasion of privacy and even possible breach of confidentiality . Although for non-users , it is not a problem. For the user, it would be a chance for them to change and go for rehabilitation. The school I believe is a safe , supportive environment where children can learn and reach their potential. So whatever be the decision, I would like to reinforce that the good and betterment of whoever identified student be taken with care. Please make sure sir , that rights of the students be uphold , parents informed and confidentiality maintained.

Thank You for reading this letter!

Sincerely Yours,
Teresa Marie Javier
Gr. 10 student
